The Reason Why

Sierra Lewis loves understanding what evokes emotion in people, how to create quality art, and connecting with others. She works in oil paint with a focus on the figure and portraits, but maintains a skill level in other mediums and subjects.  Along with paint she continues work in graphite, charcoal, and colored pencil. A tool as simple as a pencil can turn stunning reality into a single moment. Her process of creating art includes live models and photos, by using both it brings life to the final product.

Inspired and molded by her parents’ and teachers’, growing up held consistent encouragement for her passion to create. Contemporary artists have various styles of work as the art world is constantly changing. Sierra pulls inspiration from contemporary artists of today yet still admires the classic detail and naturalism of Northern Renaissance period artists.

Beauty is gifted to everyone by existing in everything we see and touch, if you look for it you will find it . As a working artist she creates pieces to show her interpretation of beauty in the world. Her inspiration draws from interactions between people and their emotional connections. Sierra believes the human body is the most beautiful creation and moments of interaction should be captured.
